We often hear people say to surpass others to win a game or a prize. But remember what Lao Tzu said more than two thousand years ago: "Defeat others is powerful; Surpass yourself is strong". In one's daily stride in life one should aim constantly to surpass oneself, to improve and to be better little by little. Does that make sense to you?
